Four doors in. One programme. Here's what happens next.
Whichever door you come through, we'll walk you through the steps.
How to refer
There are four ways people come into New Roads Ahead. Find the one that fits and follow the steps.
Probation referral
For probation officers placing someone on a sentence plan or drug rehabilitation order. NRA can form part of structured reintegration and sits alongside existing probation work.
VIA or recovery service referral
For VIA keyworkers and other drug and alcohol services referring clients in early or ongoing recovery. NRA runs alongside your existing recovery work — it doesn't replace it.
GP or health professional referral
For GPs, mental health teams, and healthcare professionals referring patients through GP Referral or similar pathways.
Self-referral or family / friend referral
If you want to join NRA yourself, or you're getting in touch on behalf of someone close to you, fill in the form or get in touch. You don't need to be in another service first.
What happens after a referral
- We confirm we've received the referral.
- We arrange a short pre-engagement conversation with the potential participant, in person or by phone.
- We check fit and safeguarding. If NRA isn't right for someone, we help signpost to something that is.
- We confirm the next available cohort and start date.
- We keep the referrer informed at every stage.
Our response time
We aim to acknowledge every referral quickly and complete the pre-engagement conversation within a fortnight — subject to the potential participant being contactable.
